Mimi Rankin, Outreach & Diabetes Coordinator for Muskegon Community Health Project, a Community Benefit Ministry of Mercy Health Muskegon. . Works closely with non-compliant diabetic patients, providing daily home-visits and monitoring of patients. Coordinate all outreach events on behalf of hospital scheduling multi – disciplinary teams to provide screening, enrollment, testing and awareness for the community. Responsible for promoting and scheduling physician sponsored food trucks, two mobile units, staff, and public relations. Coordinates several successful African American specific events including the African-American Men’s Prostate Screening; African-American Diabetes Conference and Diabetes Awareness Day. MiMi facilitated and convened community collaborative such as the African-American Leadership Team and coordinated health care and dental services for uninsured.
Mimi’s show features weekly segments on physical, mental and social health issues concerning the African American community. “Journey to Better Health” focuses on a range of health issues, including diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, sex, relationships and much more.
