The search to replace American Idol judge Simon Cowell is underway, as preliminary auditions have started for the 10th season of the hit Fox show. Singer and actor Chris Isaak, best known for his 1991 smash hit "Wicked Game," has met with the network twice about filling Cowell’s vacant position, according to The Hollywood ReporterHarry Connick Jr., who many consider to be one of the best guest mentors the show has ever had, was also considered by Fox to replace Cowell.  Sources tell the Hollywood Reporter that rocker Bret Michaels, who'd lobbied for the job, is out of the running.  Michaels' Celebrity Apprentice boss, Donald Trump, has even expressed interest in the job.

Both American Idol creator Simon Fuller and Cowell are searching for judges right now for their respective programs.  Cowell will be launching the American version of his hit British talent show The X Factor in 2011.
